The Larga comes home
It was a brave day for all who sailed the Larga home from her moorings at the East London harbour. I am sure many guests at Areena and the Kwelera Mouth where surprised to see the yacht navigating up river
to her new moorings at the resort. A great day “at the office” for the crew who were able to bring her safely home, with Ed at the helm and an escort of dolphins at sea.
It was also a very bad trip for our GAP year student, Marno, as he got sea sick and almost slept the entire way from the harbour. Everyone had their own idea of a remedy, from looking at the horizon to having a beer. But seemed to work best was to sleep all the way from the harbour, which meant he missed almost everything that happened, from Ed’s favourite hat that was lost to the sea and to the dolphins welcoming us back.
As soon as we hit the mouth of the Kwelera River he began feeling better and soon had to jump over board to help the Larga when it got stuck in the sandbanks. As he stepped foot onto the sand the colour returned back to his face and a healthy young man ready to work hard again was reborn. It was a fun trip for all except maybe Marno who still has to work on his sealegs.
